Traditionally, star quilt patterns, such as Sarah's Posies, are given to mark important life events, such as a graduation. For the Lakota (Sioux) people, the star quilt — wičháȟpi owíŋža — represents honor and generosity.
I didn't know that when I made this 91"x91" quilt with these fun flowered fabrics. I made it because it reminded me of spring, of happiness, of blooming flowers. Then my favorite, fabulous longarmer (Sarah) put this "30s Posies" quilt pattern on it in a lovely pale yellow/green and it all came together.
All materials--fabric, batting, and thread--are 100% cotton and can be machine washed/dried. It's been washed with disinfectant detergent once already and is ready to be sent to it's new home. Will it be yours?
