My favorite quilty things!
We all love tools and products that make quilting easier (& more fun!). Here are a few of my favorites that are actually in my Studio. I only recommend items I use and love so I know how they work and how they simplify my quilting time.

I just found this light and I think I'm in love! I attach it when I'm sewing corner to corner on HST, Flying Geese or attaching pieces to a corner. It's amazing how accurate it is and how it's made my pieces come out.
Create neat and attractive fabric projects with the Clover Fork Pins. This pack includes 35 fork pins to securely hold fabric linings together and handle soft materials with care. Use them to prevent the movement of fabrics while making apparel and quilting projects. They will also come in handy to make craft and home decor projects.
This is the best iron I've used! It has over 300 steam holes and, boy, can it set a seam! Plus it has some weight to it so it presses so well. There's a titanium plate so stuff doesn't stick and a retractable cord for easy storage/travel.
I don't know about you, but as I'm getting "more mature"and have had cataract surgery, I need more light on the projects I'm working on. I've had this lamp for several years and couldn't sew without it! It has great natural (white) lighting, a flexible neck, and very stable base unit--I just bend it toward my sewing machine and life is good.

I just did my first applique quilt and needed a good pair of serrated scissors for the fabric and fusible web. Someone recommended these and they are great! They are non-stick and cut through both layers of the fabric and fusible web with absolutely no problems. Plus you can also use them when you cut the paper patterns without ruining them for fabric. Bonus!
Any brand will work, but make sure it is a self-healing cutting mat. I suggest a
12" x 18" mat to start. This one will work just fine .
Olfa is a very good brand to start with. When you purchase a rotary cutter, be sure to get replacement blades. Cutting is much safer and easier with a sharp blade (ask my left index finger about that).
My favorite rulers are made by Creative Grids--they have a non-slip back, easy to read lines, and they have the extra 1/2" to account for seam allowances. The ideal size is a 6.5 x 18.5 size but you can get away with this 6.5 x 12.5 ruler to start. It's less expensive but still good quality.
